ARTS1715: Introduction to Graphic Design
Credits 3This course is an introduction to the fundamental concepts of graphic design. Projects will balance the learning of theory, communication, and creativity. It also serves as an introduction to industry-standard digital tools. Through discussion, assignments, and critiques, students will develop the foundational skills needed to communicate via visual language.
ARTS2126: Identity Systems Design
Credits 3Successfully Designed identity systems combine logos, typefaces, colors, imagery, and stylistic choices providing a unique voice for a product, business, or individual. In this course, students will design identity assets as they explore the creative and technical processes in developing a well-crafted identity system.
Recommended completion of Digital Media I and Digital Media II (but not required).
ARTS2301: Studio Studies in Graphic Design I
Credits 3This course is the first of three faculty-guided, independently navigated advanced graphic design which allow for creative exploration and research into topics extending from prior studies and personal endeavors. Students enrolled in this course are expected to have completed and passed the introduction and intermediate core program requirements or may be enrolled by permission on the instructor.
ARTS2310: Ceramics II
Credits 3This course continues the students instruction in ceramics, with an emphasis given to the continuing development of form, surface, and firing processes, expanded critical awareness, and the development of a personal aesthetic.
ARTS2520: Digital Photography II
Credits 3Techniques and concepts learned in Digital Photography I are expanded upon in this project-oriented course. Predictable image capture, enhanced color management archival printing techniques and presentation of work to professional portfolio standard.
ARTS2630: Painting II
Credits 3This course focuses on the expressive and conceptual aspects of painting, building on the observational, compositional, technical, and critical skills gained previously. Students will investigate a variety of approaches to subject matter, materials, and creative processes through in-class projects, related out-of-class assignments, library research or museum/gallery attendance, written responses, and critiques.
