NRSN1004: Introduction to Professional Nursing for Paramedics

This course will introduce the paramedic/military medic to nursing principles and concepts including the registered nurse's role in patient centered care across the lifespan for families and communities using the nursing process, evidence based practice, quality and safety, and technology, supporting future clinical practice. The course is designed to build upon knowledge, competencies, and skills learned in a paramedic, or military medic program and facilitate the transition to new roles and responsibilities of the Registered Nurse/Associate Degree Nurse (RN/ADN). The nursing process is introduced and defined as the essential core of practice for the registered nurse and applied in the delivery of holistic, patient centered care.
