This course is designed to build upon knowledge, competencies, and skills learned in a practical nursing program and to facilitate the trans of the Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse (LPN/RN) to new roles and responsibilities of the Registered Nurse/Associate Degree Nurse (RN/ADN). Nursing principles and concepts are introduced including the registered nurse's role in patient-centered care across the lifespan for families and communities using the nursing process, evidence-based practice, quality and safety, and technology. The nursing process will defined as the essential core of practice for the professional nurse to deliver holistic, patient-centered care and include the registered nurse's role as an intra- and interprofessional team member.
